Artist Interview: Chiara Scoglio

What effect has folklore had on the way you see the world?

Learning about folklore has made me truly appreciate each season for its nature and place within the cycle of the year. I slowly learnt to love the passage from one season to the other without mourning the end of my favourite time of the year. I think observing all this can really turn into an exercise in slowing down and enjoying each moment for what it has to offer.

What are the themes you are exploring?

I have been exploring moments of “suburban magic”, as I like to define it: everyday instants of mysterious beauty that interrupt my day and make me daydream – the blue reflection of a black cat’s fur when kissed by the sunlight, for example.

If you were a cryptid or folkloric creature, which one would you be?

A dragon!
